Endpoint List Page

A Sample View

The figure next is a snapshot of the first page a user see when login. It contains a list of active endpoints, including the current one at top in dark background.

Figure: The endpoint list page.

More details are described next.

The Main Menus

Some major pages of 1-NET has a main menu bar.

  • Contacts: 1-NET is designed to connect a user and his/her devices with not only other of him/her devices but also other peoples and their devices. This button opens the social relationship management page for the user.
  • Settings: It opens the settings page for the account.
  • Help: It can be used to acquire a few kinds of help information or usage guide related to the parent (or previous) page that current help page follows, like this page for the entry page.
  • Logout the account.

The Footer

The part at the bottom contains a list of links for a user to visit the website of 1-NET in a new window to get more information or engage site related activities.

The Tabs

  • Onliners: It contains a list of endpoints that have joined the account network after login.
  • Reachables: It contains a list of offline endpoints that accept offline data. The default behavior of an endpoint in 1-NET is not to accept offline data. However this behavior can be changed in the settings page for the endpoint reachable by click the button for the corresponding endpoint.

Page Components

The rest parts are unique for each of the pages. Here the "current endpoint" refers to the endpoint that the user is currently using to access 1-NET.

The present page consists of, in sequential order, the name of the network ("Shared Network" here), current endpoint in dark background, and a list of other active endpoints inside the account network.

There are state indicators and operating buttons associated with each endpoints. Some of them can appear or disappear depending upon the state of the endpoint.

State Flags

State flags are described in the following

  • The endpoint is password protected. A password protected endpoint requires the user to provide a preset password to get write related accesses from other endpoints.
  • The endpoint is a gateway. A gateway endpoint is visible to external endpoints in other network accounts and can be included in these networks once a time-limited permission or authorization is obtained from the owner of the current account.
  • The endpoint is busy in processing data, do not interrupt.

There are also states that are not displayed but control the behavior of the endpoints.

Commands
  • Open the data output command list targeting the corresponding endpoint with the current one as source. The current supported operations are:
    • Sending files.
    • Initiating the current endpoint as the multimedia server of a P2P monitoring setup that is bounded specifically to the current endpoint and the targeting one.
    • Feeding unicast multimedia streams from the current endpoint to the target one.
    • Call the target endpoint for a two way multimedia chat.
The endpoint becomes the current target endpoint after selecting a task from popup menu. Depending upon the number of existing 1-NET connections of the current endpoint to the target one, the button triggers a navigation to different pages. If the said connection is more than one, then it will end up at the connections page between the current and the target endpoints. Otherwise, it will end up at the corresponding data output page of the selected task, creating a new connection if there is none.
  • Open the data input command list from the currensponding endpoint with the current one as sink. Only the kind of receiving tasks that there are data to be received from the corresponding endpoint will be listed. The endpoint becomes the current source endpoint after selecting a task from the popup menu. Depending also upon the number of existing 1-NET connections of the current endpoint to the target one, the button triggers a navigation to different pages. If the said connection is more than one, then it will end up at the connections page (between the current and the target endpoints), otherwise, it will end up at the kind of data sink page corresponding to the selected type.
  • Go to the connection list management page. The endpoint becomes the current target endpoint after clicking this button.
  • Go to the settings for the corresponding endpoint.
  • Go to the remote control entry page for the corresponding endpoint. This button is displayed only when the current endpoint is a controller and the corresponding endpoint is remote controllable. A controller endpoint has more privilege in managing its network. There is only one controller in an account network at a time. The remote controllablility of an endpoint must be set in its own endpoint settings page.
  • or
Open or close two way voice talk chanel with the target endpoint. Such kind of channel can also be opened or closed in many pages in which collaboration between people operating on the two endpoints might be needed. However there is only one such kind of channel between a pair of endpoints, which means that opening or closing it here affects the voice chatting state of all the pages that depend on it.
